How to Use an Omni2 Digital Video Camera

There is much controversy over the Omni2 digital camcorders because the brand is obscure and the Japanese manufacturer for this brand on occasion has shipped many of these cameras overseas without instruction manuals enclosed in the packaging. This has resulted in many questions concerning the camera’s functional capabilities. Here is the rundown on what the camera can do and how to use it.

Step 1

Turn on the Omni2 digital video camera by pressing the on/off switch located on the upper left corner of the camera near the viewfinder. If the camera does not turn on after you have held this button down for about 3 seconds, then you may need to check the batteries. The Omni2 conveniently takes AAA batteries; this is very good, but it also contributes to why the camera is so small and at times difficult to manage. The battery slot is located on the lower right corner of the camera and can be replaced by simply pressing into the battery guard and sliding it away from the camera to its outer edge.

Step 2

Adjust modes on the camera by using the mode dial. The mode dial is a circular dial located on the upper right corner of the back of the camera. Turning this dial to the triangular image pointing to the left will display your images and photos on the LCD screen. If you press down on the mode dial, it will click and play your videos back for your viewing. Turning the dial to the camera image will allow you to take photos; the camcorder image will allow you to record videos. The term “Menu” in green will open the setup menu. There is also an option for image transfers, which is color coded green; image erase, which is red; and an option to put the camera on a timer, which is black and white.

Step 3

Record video using the flip LCD screen by pressing the screen release button located on the back of the camera where the viewfinder is located. Once you unfasten the LCD screen from the side of the camera, it should display all of the images you are receiving through the viewfinder, but if it does not you can press the display button located below the viewfinder. To take photos using the LCD screen, you simply follow the video instructions only; turn the mode dial to the camera emblem. The button to record or take snapshots is conveniently located on the upper right corner of the camera where the pointer finger is most likely to rest. Press this button down for 2 seconds and the video will begin to record, or the camera will take a snapshot, depending on the mode for which you have it set.

Step 4

Set the timer to take a picture by turning the mode dial to the color coded black and white image. On the LCD screen you should see a stop watch that allows you to set the amount of time before a picture will be taken. You can set this time by clicking once on the mode key on the timer, and then turning the dial of the mode clockwise or counterclockwise to set the timer.

Step 5

Transfer images you have by uploading the Digital SD Card Camcorder Image Shack software to your computer. Whenever you transfer images from your Omni2 to your computer, you will need to the USB cord that comes with the camera connected to the USB port in your computer. When you turn the mode dial to the color coded green emblem, an image transfer will appear on the LCD screen of the camera and if the camera is connected to your computer, and the software is properly uploaded, the images will begin to load on their own. If the images don’t load on their own, go to the menu screen on the upper left corner of the homepage of the Digital SD Card Camcorder Image Shack software and click the image transfer option. Located on this same menu bar is an option to edit your pictures. You can access this option the same way you access the image transfer.
